The Great El Niño
Disclaimer: This article was written in 2006 for the 2007 weather, but the tips are still useful.
Normally in travel, we don’t pay attention
to the weather and the climate as much as we should.
Summer is summer, with occasional rain. December
to February is cold. YTRIP suggests that to
make better and more meaningful travel plans –
check out the weather and the climate.
According to PAG-ASA’s November 6, 2006 advisory,
El Niño has strengthened in October and
it is expected to intensify during the next three
months. This explains why the simoy
ng pasko is not so cold and fuzzy-feeling.
It will also likely to continue through April-June
2007.
So expect drier conditions and greater
humidity the coming months this side of
the world. Think about what to pack and where to
go. Sunblock and the beach sound cool as well as
the waterfalls. You can also try voluntourism and
have an immersion with indigenous peoples in the
mountains.
